  • Next Level Journey

    Thursday, February 26th, 2015

My name is Joelle Rofrano and I have had the privilege of being a student of the ‘game’ under Coach Roger for 5 months. Roger is not only an unprecedented master of his craft, but superimposes his passion upon his athletes by simply guiding you through a warm-up. I have been involved with CrossFit for a little over a year but it’s only been recently, under Lone Tree’s programming and community, that I feel that I have embarked into ‘true fitness,’ and taking my skills to the next level. Lone Tree is the place you want to be if you desire elevating your current state of fitness and obtaining the skills and the drive to go beyond the ‘typical.’ There is nothing ordinary nor basic about Lone Tree CrossFit. Roger hones in on your strengths while effectively and efficiently coaching you toward bettering your weaknesses. We have an unbelievable community of people who encourage and motivate while challenge you to push a little harder, give a little more and are right there with you as we are continually humbled by the single most vexing WODS I have ever faced! There is something very special, unique and addicting that resides within our box. As long as there’s a class to attend and open hours to practice and refine what I learn, I will never leave!

  • Great Place to Grow

    Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015

Let me start by saying I’ve never really been athletic. I played sports as a kid (poorly), but was never really into fitness. I started running and lifting more often a couple years ago in my early 30s and realized how good it felt to be active. I tried home programs, going to the gym, ran a half marathon, but I still wasn’t seeing the results I was expecting.

I started at LTCF just over 6 months ago, and can’t imagine doing anything else. I am really happy to be part of the community. I am getting stronger and more fit, feeling better, and everyone who knows me, sees it and remarks on it.

Roger is a great coach that proves you can do crossfit without getting injured, even if you are a newbie. The other members are all supportive and friendly, and even if you go in scared, you come out feeling great. LTCF is a great place to grow, no matter what your fitness level.

  • Why I drive across town to go here…

    Sunday, July 13th, 2014

I’ve had gym memberships on and off over the last 10 years and had become convinced that I was just not the working out “kind”. I had such a hard time getting motivated to work out and once I got to the gym, I got bored and intimidated very quickly. However, 5 months ago, I decided I needed to do something drastically different because my “routine” wasn’t producing any results for me. I signed up for a month of CrossFit with LTCF, expecting not to stay any longer than that, but after a month, I realized that for the first time in my life I was seeing RESULTS! I was happy to wake up at 5am to workout before work, I was motivated, I was inspired, and I was pushing myself more than I ever had before. My mood had increased and I fell in love with the community there, everyone is so nice, friendly, and your biggest cheerleaders when you feel like you can’t go any further. Roger has a way of providing the perfect balance of “tough love” and close care to ensure that you’re pushing yourself, without injuring yourself. It really is an art form and he is by far the most amazing coach I’ve ever had. I like being a part of a community that is about more than just working out, Roger is always looking to improve himself, improve the gym, and make a difference in people’s lives. He creates community, relationships, and an overall positive lifestyle out of getting in shape. THIS is the reason I drive across town to go to this gym, not because it’s convenient, but because I can’t get this anywhere else. I’m happy to report that 5 months in… My strength, endurance, mood, and motivation, have all skyrocketed, and continues to increase.

  • 14%

    Monday, April 28th, 2014

So yesterday was my 30th birthday and I missed my goal of 14% body fat by then, but I can confidently say that at 30 years old I am in better shape than any point in my 20’s. I’ve only gotten down to as low as 15.1% at best, then plateaued in the 15’s. I’m still really proud of that though. When I first bought this body fat scale last year, I was around 21%. I was about 195lbs when I started and am now 177lbs. I’ve lost about 4 inches in my waist. I’ve punched numerous new holes in all my belts and have had to have all my dress pants tailored.
Starting Crossfit in September was the biggest help and I love all the positive ways it has changed my body. Starting Paleo in December was great. In today’s world it is hard to stick to, but I’m definitely sold on the fact that Paleo is the best way to eat and may pick it back up for a little bit to get that last little bit off. I’m still hoping to get to 14% at some point this summer. This isn’t the end by any means. it’s just a milestone in the journey.

  • Ring Muscle-ups!

    Monday, December 16th, 2013

    Roger-
I dropped in for 3 days last month in November and one of the WOD’s involved Ring Muscle-ups which at the time I could not do. What was unique about your box was that instead of scaling with C2B or Pull-ups, you had everyone use bands on the rings to help get to the dip portion of the MU. Well, less than 30 days later of using that same technique, I have conquered MU’s! Thank you for the excellent coaching!
